Greek Council Executive Committee Requirements
- Applicants must be a full-time student, with at least a 2.25 cumulative GPA and cannot be on any type of academic probation.
- Applicants must be declared an active member of their Greek organization.
- Applicants can apply for more than one position, but must answer questions separately for each position.
- Applicants should be prepared to make a one-year commitment to serving on Greek Council.
Executive Committee Responsibilities
- Executive Committee must attend Greek Council General Council meetings (Tuesdays at 11 a.m.).
- Executive Committee must attend Greek Council Executive Committee meetings once a week.
- Executive Committee members must be able to make decisions based on what is best for the council, not what is in the best interest of their individual Greek organizations.
- Executive Committee members should be at all Greek-Life sponsored events on campus (minimum 1 per month).
- Executive Committee members must be role models to members of the Greek community.
- Executive Committee members must participate in Greek Executive Council Training held over the summer.
- Executive Committee members must work a minimum of four office hours per week.
Executive Committee Description
President
- Presides over Greek Council meetings.
- Serves as the primary representative of Greek Life at major college functions and within the Greek Community.
- Must have a minimum of one year experience within Greek Council.
- Plans agenda for Greek Council meetings.
- Works with the Greek Executive Council members to coordinate Greek Community functions and standards.
- Responsible for assisting the Treasurer in distributing Greek Council funds.
- Required to meet with the Director of Student Activities on a weekly basis.
- Allowed a vote in Greek Council Meetings in the event of a tie.
- May not hold the office of President in their respective Greek organization.
- Responsible for bringing any current policies or issues to the Greek Council for discussion.
- Responsible for drafting policies for Greek Council to review and discuss.
- Appoint committee chairs with the approval of Greek Council for committees created by the Council as deemed necessary.
Vice President
- Serves as Greek Review Board Chair.
- Creates agenda and leads Greek Review Board Meetings.
- Oversees the Greek Award Application Process with guidance from Director of Student Activities.
- Serves as an expert for the Standards of Excellence.
- Oversees the Greek Executive Council Public Relations Chair’s duties.
- Serves the role of President in the event of the President’s absence.
- Required to meet with the Director of Student Activities on a bi-weekly basis.
Secretary
- Records minutes for all Greek Council and Greek Executive Council meetings.
- Maintains and distributes rosters of Greek Executive Council Officers and Greek Organization Presidents to all Greek organizations and Student Life Staff.
- Maintains and updates the Greek Life Events Page on the Austin College Greek Life Page.
- Required to meet with the Director of Student Activities on a bi-weekly basis.
Treasurer
- Creates and maintains the Greek Life budget.
- Collects semesterly dues and, as ordered, fines from Greek organizations.
- Presents a budget report at Greek Council meetings once a month.
- Required to meet with the Director of Student Activities on a monthly basis.
Public Relations Chair
- Maintains and promptly updates all necessary Greek Life information and publications on the Austin College social media pages.
- Creates a marketing plan for all Greek Life Events.
- Serves as, if appointed, as Greek Life Promotional Team Chair.
- Required to meet with the Director of Student Activities on a monthly basis.
- Required to add Greek Life events to the Director of Student Activities' calendar monthly.
