Monkeypox
As per CDC, Monkeypox is a rare disease caused by infection with the monkeypox virus. Monkeypox virus is part of the same family of viruses as variola virus, the virus that causes smallpox. Monkeypox symptoms are similar to smallpox symptoms, but milder, and monkeypox is rarely fatal. Monkeypox is not related to chickenpox.
Flu (Influenza)
As per CDC, Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs. Some people, such as older people, young children, and people with certain health conditions, are at higher risk of serious flu complications.
Flu shots are available; contact the Adams Health Center at 903.813.2247 to find out more. The cost is $30. For students with AHP insurance, the cost is covered. For others, it will be billed to the student account. Faculty and staff who have insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield provided by Austin College may bring their insurance card and Human Resources will file for you.
